Over the past several weeks a Great Blue Heron has been visiting the Garden’s lakes.
On two occasions he was reported stalking our prize Koi fish in the Koi Pond near the Visitor Center.
It appears he is walking from the lakes to the Koi Pond for a special meal. Our Koi are not faring well.

Herb Lewis, a retired engineer, has developed a second career in designing and teaching effective techniques learned to attract many species of birds to his backyard habitat. His experiences have been shared through workshops and presentations to diverse groups including the Master Gardener training for North Alabama and the annual Birmingham Audubon Mountain Workshop. Herb and his wife Terry sponsored and helped develop the Lewis Birding Trail at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
