The Great Backyard Bird Count – Huntsville Botanical Garden

The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) sponsored by the Garden recorded 43 species of birds and a total of 755 birds during four days  of February 17 – 20. The GBBC is an annual world-wide event sponsored by Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.  It engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent and the world. The Count helps determine the distribution of birds that supports research for bird conservation. A few birds viewed during the birding tour on 18 February included the following:
