2019 Great Backyard Bird Count

Since 1998 the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society have sponsored the Great Backyard Bird CountThe four-day event each February is an international, online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and display results in near real time.  This year over 100 countries participated. HBG participated by hosting an early morning birding tour on Saturday 16 February.  Eighteen participants recorded 26 bird species in a two-hour period. The results were submitted to eBird the real-time, online program launched in 2002 by Cornell and Audubon. The Garden is recognized by eBird as a birding “hotspot” within the international eBird database.
