Purple martins are fascinating creatures that are gaining in popularity throughout the South for several reasons – one they are incredible flying machines, and two they eat lots of mosquitoes. For several years now the Garden has had a wonderful colony of purple martins that nest, mate, raise their young, migrate in winter and return the following spring to repeat the cycle all over again. Join Brian Naughton, purple martin enthusiast, as he shares his insights on these wonderful birds in a classroom lecture and then out on site as we watch them in flight.
