Gift Shop Holiday Open House

The Gift Shop Holiday Open House will take place on Saturday, December 4, during regular Garden hours. Enjoy a day of holiday fun and check off your holiday shopping list with unique home and garden gifts from local businesses and artists. We hope you will join us for a special day of holiday shopping, all to support the mission work of the Garden.

Here's what you need to know:

  • This event is free and will be located in the Gift Shop.
  • From 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., enjoy light refreshments, complimentary gift wrapping, and a holiday giveaway.
  • From 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Patsy Trigg of Elmo & Patsy, the duo that recorded "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," will be reading from her new book, Grandma & the Reindeer’s Christmas Eve Tussle.
  • From 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., enjoy a meet-and-greet with the Garden's featured artist, Jauneth Skinner.
  • From 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., enjoy a book reading and signing with Kelly Spining, author of The Butterfly Tree.

About Patsy Trigg

Patsy is best known as part of the duo that recorded the #1 Gold and Platinum Hit Christmas song “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.” After the band split up in the late 80’s Patsy took a personal hiatus from the entertainment business and moved back home to Tennessee to spend quality time with her family. Patsy has written multiple children's books, including Percy, The Puny Poinsettia; Clouds; and Letters From Grandma to Patsy. Her latest release, Grandma & the Reindeer’s Christmas Eve Tussle, is a coloring book that follows the story of the hit song.

About Jauneth Skinner

Jauneth Skinner is an award-winning artist and illustrator. She creates illustrations, limited edition prints, and illuminated journals. She has been exhibiting her work in juried competitive exhibitions for thirty-five years. Skinner holds a Diploma from the Society of Botanical Artists, a Master of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts and an Associates of Science in Commercial Art Technology from Indiana University. When she retired from full-time teaching in 2019 she opened a studio at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Skinner is also a Lecturer in the Art Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. About Kelly Spining

Kelly Spining has been working with children for over thirty years, with twelve of those years as a Kindergarten teacher. During that time, she developed a love of writing and has written many short stories that she has shared with her classes. Kelly is the proud mother of two daughters and the very proud “Nana Kel” to three beautiful granddaughters. She lives in Alabama with her husband Steve and is a faculty member at the University Charter School.
