Holiday Table Garlands | In-person class

Add natural beauty to your holiday display with handcrafted garlands of fresh greenery!

Holiday garland

In this class, you will learn the steps to turn unassuming branches and foliage into beautiful pieces of festive cheer. Your instructor, Rebecca Turk, will cover key trees and shrubs to grow as well as how to make a six-foot table garland using those plants. Each class attendee will make their own 6’ table garden from materials harvested from the Garden. Once completed, your beautiful creation will go home with you to decorate your home for the holidays!

Additional Information: 

All materials are provided for this class except pruners, so please bring a pair with you. If you would like to wear gloves, please bring a set of those as well. Each class attendee will go home with a six-foot table garland.

This class will take place in person at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. All visitors, staff, and volunteers are asked to follow the recommendations of the CDC regarding face masks/coverings and social distancing. These recommendations may vary based on an individual’s circumstances, so individuals should refer to the CDC to determine what recommendations are applicable to them.

About Rebecca Turk:

Rebecca has been making fresh greenery wreaths and garlands for over a decade! She feels it’s the best way to bring the outdoors in during the holiday season. Rebecca graduated with her Master of Science degree in Horticulture from North Carolina State University in 2012 and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, focusing in horticulture, from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2010. She discovered her passion for public horticulture and teaching through her mom and her various employments at the SFA Mast Arboretum, “Nacogdoches Naturally” Education Program, Missouri Botanical Garden, the JC Raulston Arboretum, and Moore Farms Botanical Garden. At the Huntsville Botanical Garden, she serves as the Director of Learning and Public Engagement. She has a strong passion for educating the community, leadership, public horticulture, and sharing her love for the outdoors while teaching. She and her husband Christopher love their shared interest in horticulture and enjoy every moment outside with their sweet daughters, Emilia and Ila.
