Plant Invaders Workshop

October 26, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This class is FREE to everyone, but space is limited.

Register for October 26

Taught by Jennifer Davidson.

Learn about locally problematic invasive plant species, how to identify them, and the best methods of control. This workshop provides an ID presentation and hands-on* field experience with knowledgeable staff helping and answering questions.

*Participants should bring gloves and wear long pants and closed toe shoes.

Environmentalism is at the heart of everything Jennifer Davidson does. In high school, she discovered the joy of growing her own vegetables and worked her first summer job here at the Garden. She designed her own interdisciplinary major, Environmental Decision-Making, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and studied tropical biodiversity in Costa Rica and Ecuador. She has worked as a ground worker for an arborist and as a freelance gardener and was selected to be the native plant intern at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. In 2017, she started working at Huntsville Botanical Garden (again!) as a full-time gardener, and in 2018 was promoted to horticulture specialist. She has since earned her pesticide applicator’s license from the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries and taught a composting class for beginners.

This event is made possible by the Alabama Invasive Plant Council Education and Outreach Grant
