Join us in stocking our butterfly house by helping release newly emerged butterflies into their new home, the Purdy Butterfly House. Enjoy an informative family-friendly presentation in the Anderson Education Center classroom followed by time in the Purdy Butterfly House. Hundreds of vibrant umbrellas will float above the greenery, trails and turtles of the Purdy Butterfly House at Huntsville Botanical Garden. The installation uses colorful umbrellas to provide an amazing sight that evokes a careful, child-like energy. The Purdy Butterfly House, the nation’s largest open-air butterfly house, opens on May 1 and through September is home to 1,500 butterflies, as well as turtles, button quail, frogs, and other critters.
