Golden Hour

Select Fridays, May – September @ 5:00 PM

Ease into your Friday evenings at Golden Hour, a relaxed summer series where music, nature, and community come together as the sun begins to set. From May through September, enjoy live music, picnics, and time with friends surrounded by the Garden’s natural beauty.

On the third Friday of May through August, Golden Hour expands with Third Fridays—featuring a curated mini market of local makers that brings even more creativity and community to the evening.

New this year: Thanks to the support of the Huntsville Music Office and the City of Huntsville’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, admission is free during Golden Hour beginning at 5:00 p.m. through closing.

Butterfly Release

Butterfly releases take place on select mornings May–September @ 10:00 or 11:00 a.m.

Guests of all ages will enjoy sharing in the magic of safely releasing live butterflies into the Purdy Butterfly House. This program begins with a brief presentation about butterflies and their habitat, followed by taking part in the safe restoration of our indoor butterfly population.
