A waitlist for the following semester will be created once the program is full. First priority is given to the students currently in the program. To be added to the waitlist, the child must meet the age requirements. 

Garden Sprouts Pre-K is full at 18 children. If the program is full, you may be added to the waitlist by emailing gardensproutsprek@hsvbg.org.  

Children must have reached the age of 4 by September 1 to register.  All age requirements are set to benefit the children and allows the staff to tailor the program as age-appropriate.

The registration paperwork will be provided at least one month before the program’s start date. This will include all contact and emergency information, allergies, behavior expectations, policies, and procedures.

Tuition is due monthly on the 15th of each month, starting the month before the semester start date. (Ex: First payment for fall semester is due August 15th and the first payment for the Spring semester is due December 15th). A payment link will be sent on the 1st of each month.

Enrollment occurs one semester at a time. Children in the program have priority for the next semester’s enrollment, then the waiting list.

Yes. The sibling will not be guaranteed a spot but will have the opportunity to sign up before it is opened to the public.

One snack is provided per day. We ask all students to bring their lunch.  

The program is designed where at least 70% of the time is spent outdoors, utilizing the Garden’s living laboratory. This percentage will fluctuate in the case of inclement weather.

In the case of inclement weather, the program will move indoors. If we are under a heat advisory, more time will take place indoors as well.

You are required to provide the following items: 

• Refillable water bottle that the child can carry 
• Lunch that does not need to be refrigerated
• Spray sunscreen and bug spray
• Change of clothes  
• Rain boots and rain jacket for light rain days 
• Backpack or bag to secure items 

Our instructors will periodically share pictures through the Class Dojo app. While this is a fantastic resource, our primary focus is on your children and their education, so photos may not be posted frequently each day. We appreciate your understanding and support. More information will be provided before the first day.

The Garden uses a system called Brightwheel for check-in and check-out. Each family will be provided with an access code that is unique to them that must be presented to the Garden Sprouts Pre-K instructors. 

Curriculum is developed by HBG master educators.  Pre-K program themes can be explored here. The difference between this program and many others is that child-inspired learning experiences take place primarily in the Garden’s outdoor natural settings. 

Yes! All Garden Sprouts Pre-K staff are certified instructors, degreed in early childhood instruction, curriculum development and are grounded in nature play philosophy, CPR, first-aid, safety, and behavior management. 

Home base for the program takes place in the classroom connected to the Purdy Butterfly House. Drop-off and pick-up will take place here. More details will be provided once the application fee has been processed and at least one month prior to the semester start date.

Currently, the program is in session 9 AM to 1 PM three days a week. We are assessing the need to expand in 2025.

We do not provide the Garden Sprouts Pre-K program in the summer at this time. We do offer STEM Camps for ages 4-5 during Spring Break, Summer Break, and Fall Break.
