The Garden’s reach in and around the state of Alabama is growing and is something we are always excited to hear about. Recently however, we were able to expand our reach to an international audience, which provided us an opportunity to highlight some attributes of the Garden not frequently thought about!

Carol Tevepaugh, an active volunteer for the Garden led a tour for young women leaders from Russia. The women visited the United States as part of the Open World Program, and were locally hosted by Global Ties Alabama (GTA). These women walked the Garden for 2 hours and saw everything from the Legos sculptures, to the Garden Railroad, the Herb and Children’s Gardens and everything in between! They expressed to their host afterwards that their trip to the Garden was their favorite thing about Huntsville!

The Gardens commitment to volunteerism, to the growth of our community and our respect for those that came before us was on full display (as it always is)!  We were able to provide a depoliticized way for these visitors to engage with Americans and see some of our community values in action! Many thanks to Carol Tevepaugh for sharing the Garden with these women leaders from across the globe, a fantastic host for a unique visit!
